Watch Webinar: Teaching chemistry with Labster’s Virtual Labs

Do you teach chemistry and are you looking for ways to increase student engagement with your course content? Would you like to give your students the opportunity to experiment with a wide range of advanced equipment and techniques? And would you like to help your students better understand abstract chemical concepts?

Then watch this webinar with Sabine Matallana-Surget, Chemistry Professor at Stirling University, to learn from her experience with using Labster’s virtual labs in her chemistry courses.

By using Labster in her courses she achieved the following outcomes:

  • Contextualization of learning content making it easier to teach abstract and complex concepts in chemistry
  • Increased student engagement
  • Easier and faster student assessment

She was also awarded with the Dean’s award for Innovation in Learning and Teaching at Stirling University in the Biological and Environmental Sciences Division for the uptake and use of Labster’s virtual labs in science teaching.

Sabine Matallana-Surget has been teaching with virtual labs for several years and shares her thoughts and experiences and answers questions from the audience in this informative and interactive webinar.

About Sabine Matallana-Surget:

Sabine Matallana-Surget, PhD, is a Lecturer and Director of the BSc. Degree Programme in Applied Biological Sciences at the University of Stirling, UK.

Sabine leads an international and multidisciplinary research group on microbial ecology and environmental omics. Her early publications are widely cited by biologists, chemists and oceanographers. Sabine has a well-established international network and several partnerships with Life Science Companies.

Her expertise centres on environmental microbiology and photobiology, with strong skills in molecular biology and proteomics. Sabine started working at Stirling University in 2015 and has since then taught in several undergrad degrees and modules from chemistry to microbial ecology to advanced molecular biology. She has been using Labster in 4 modules, with 1st and 4th year students since 2016, and has noticed that Labster is beneficial for students’ learning processes and level of engagement.
