KYIV and COPENHAGEN - November 28, 2022
The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (MoES) and Labster, the world's leading platform for virtual labs and interactive science, announced today that Labster has donated its science learning platform to all universities, colleges, as well as all schools and educational institutions in Ukraine.
Labster’s donation will enable more than 4.5 million students in every education institution in Ukraine to offer immersive interactive science programs online or in-person using Labster’s award-winning virtual science simulations for a full year. Educators can easily integrate Labster into their existing science courses and filter the more than 300 of virtual lab simulations available by level of education, courses and topics to enable efficient learning experience. In addition to providing access to its catalog of simulations, Labster is also donating professional development training and technical support service to all science faculty and students.
Multiple universities in Ukraine have already signed up for Labster’s offering and started implementing Labster as part of their courses over the last few weeks. These includes Sumy State University, Kharkiv National University of Civil Engineering and Architecture and Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology.
“We are honored to provide our full support to Ukrainian educators and students who are continuing their studies despite the challenging circumstances in which they live,”
said Michael Bodekaer Jensen, Labster co-founder and CEO. “Providing access to our high-quality interactive science learning platform in Ukraine aligns with Labster’s vision to empower the next generation of scientists to change the world.”
"It is critical that we empower our educators and provide the means for all Ukrainian students to learn science and technology, whether they intend to become government officials, entrepreneurs, farmers, or physicians. As young citizens graduate, they must be prepared to immediately contribute, and science is fundamental to every field. We are grateful to Labster for donating access to its advanced STEM education platform, available anytime and anywhere, for all Ukrainian students in high school, technical school, and university," said Ukraine’s First Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Andrii Vitrenko.
Get Free Access for Your Institution
In order to gain full free access to your institution, please contact your institution's IT Administrator. All institutions in Ukraine have received an official invitation email from the Ministry of Education & Science with signup instructions.
IT Administrator and Educator Training
The first live open training webinar will take place in December 2022. During this training, IT administrators and educators will learn how to access Labster, how to identify and review simulations from Labster’s catalog, and how to assign Labster simulations to students. This process takes less than 10 minutes to complete once training is completed.
Labster Digital Science Educator Certificate & Training
On our first live training webinar, all Ukrainian educators will receive access to the extended Labster training certification program. All Ukrainian educators and IT administrators will have access to the “Labster Digital Science Educator Certificate” which includes 6 hours of on-demand training, and an optional additional 10-hour advanced university science educator training program. During the year Labster will host additional free live training webinars.
Once educators complete the fundamental digital science educator training, they will receive the official Labster certification in partnership with and approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
Labster Advanced Certification Program:
Teaching Practical Skills with Simulations
In addition, an advanced 10-hour certification is offered for free to all educators. Educators can complete this official extended Labster certificate in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine once they complete the advanced training and preparation course for teaching science in higher education. They will gain a clear understanding of the principles of visible learning, explore modern learning theories, and will be able to implement evidence-based teaching strategies with comprehensive course structures and laboratory designs.
Labster is dedicated to developing fully interactive virtual training simulations that are designed to enhance traditional learning outcomes by stimulating students’ natural curiosity and reinforcing the connection between science and the real world. The simulations can be used in a variety of different ways, from a full lab replacement to a supplemental learning activity. Over 5 million students in high schools and universities in 70 countries have used Labster to perform realistic experiments, learn key science concepts, and practice their skills in a risk-free learning environment.
