Professor Julia Hamel is an esteemed Co-Chair of the Science Department at Germanna Community College, where she adeptly oversees departmental operations with a focus on innovation and collaboration. With a passion for biology education, she imparts knowledge and fosters student engagement in a variety of biology courses. Her dedication to student success is evident in her teaching approach, where she prioritizes accessibility and inclusivity for all learners. Recently recognized with the "Excellence in Education, Beyond Ideas in High Impact Practices" award, Professor Hamel's commitment to making upper-level biology courses accessible to all students sets her apart as a visionary educator dedicated to enhancing the learning experience.
Dr. Julian Allen is the Vice President of Academic Affairs for Labster, whose interactive virtual training simulations provide immersive digital learning experiences that reinforce the exciting connection between science and the real world for more than six million students in educational institutions around the globe. Dr. Allen previously spent over 25 years at Georgia State University, where as Chief Learning Innovations Officer he led initiatives for improving teaching and learning through the strategic use of technology, innovative pedagogies, and data analytics. He was also a faculty member in the Learning Technology Leadership program at the nonprofit association EDUCAUSE, helping develop the next generation of learning technology innovators.
